- This is a different problem than any I have seen. I really like
- ABackup's interface but the software is, unfortunately, buggy.
-
- After I installed ABackup V5.10 over V5.02 (which had been in for about
- a week), I couldn't use the internal TAPE device and had to use the
- BTNTape driver with a faked file designation (TAPE128:N). Installing it
- to floppy removed the problem.
-
- Another problem is that the Fast memory allocation of the full 2 Megs of
- memory for buffer space isn't preventing the stops, rewinds, and starts
- while the drive is backing up or restoring files. I have an IVS Trumpcard
- Pro which can move data around 3 Megs per second and my hard drive is a
- Quantum Maverick with decently fast access, so my system is not the
- problem (I have seen the tape drive back up at 65K/sec instead of the
- ~25K/sec I see with ABackup, so I know it is not the problem, either).
